Finally! I’m taking part in the wonderful Self-Portrait blogging activity. This month’s theme is identity. Although knitting and sewing are my primary passions these days, I also have a life-long love of baking as these photos show. Here I am at age three preparing something imaginary and delicious.

Baking suits my personality in much the same way as my craft projects do. Generally, I follow a recipe because I enjoy having some guidelines to follow. In theory, I’d like to be more free-spirited and original — but in practice, I’m better at following directions. And yet there are always opportunities to make your baking creations your own. Somehow a part of the baker’s personality gets infused inito the end results in such a wonderful way.

I’m so glad that the holiday season with all of its excuses for baking delicious treats has arrived.

I’m tickled to have just now noticed the bird cage in the background of these pictures. That was the home of our blue parakeet Pumpernickel. Looks like he had a pretty groovy cage cover.
