Little Red Raglan

This little number is from the Debbie Bliss Baby Knits book. It’s a bit more rustic done up in Manos wool instead of the recommended cashmerino — but hopefully, the Manos will be soft enough for a baby if worn over top of a onesie or shirt. This is in the line-up of baby gifts for one of several newborns coming along this winter, but I’m not sure exactly who just yet!
I made one slight modifcation to the original pullover pattern which was to leave an inch or so open at the neckline, and I added a button there — because I know it isn’t always easy to pull anything over the head of a squirming infant.

I’ve been having so much fun making these baby projects, that I splurged on a new book. Have you seen Zoe Mellor’s latest, Nursery Knits? I’ve made several projects from her Adorable Knits for Tots, and this book looks like it’ll become one of my favorites also. After a disasterous intarsia fiasco last Christmas (that was a Zoe Mellor pattern also, come to think of it), I’ve been shy to try any more adventurous colorwork . . . but maybe it’s time to try again? I’ve got my eye on the Outdoor Snuggler pattern especially. (One tiny duck. Surely I can handle it, right?)

Great sweater, and great modification.

I love that outdoor snuggler–cute! And I think the button on the raglan was a very smart idea! These babies are lucky (as were mine! LOL!) to get such wonderful handmade things.
