Finding Neverland
I know I’m behind the times, but I just got the opportunity to finally see Finding Neverland on DVD this weekend. What a beautiful film! The story is sad, thoughtful, and hopeful all at once. Definitely check it out if you’re in the mood for something quiet and enchanting.
I’m surprised it took me so long to finally see this. I should divulge that my high school did the play Peter Pan, so I have a soft spot for anything related to it. I had a small role as a pirate with, I think, about 2 lines. And a couple of my younger siblings were recruited to be Lost Boys. Prior to this, my favorite movie homage was Steven Spielberg’s Hook, because it borrows heavily from the script of the original play (as opposed to the Disney version). (Which begs the question, why haven’t I also gone to see the other recent Peter Pan movie yet??)
And speaking of movies, is anyone else watching the new season of Project Greenlight on Bravo? Kate and I are already addicted to it. I find myself wanting to reach into the screen and help the director John Gulager get his act together. Why doesn’t someone sit down with him and write out a little speel about the film so that he has something prepared to say in those dismal conference call meetings? And why doesn’t his family help him to realize how futile it is to stake his entire project on getting them all the lead roles? Argh! It’s deliciously maddening to watch.
Oh, and P.S.: I had been baffled by the Johnny Depp craze that’s going around. But I get it now. I totally get it now.

I just missed seeing Finding Neverland at the $1 theater this weekend and now it’s gone. Maybe the library has it on DVD by now…
I love your Clapotis pictures. Very pretty!

Okay, so I love all things Peter Pan, too, so I rented the recent release. HORRIBLE. I couldn’t get past the first half hour. It was mostly Peter and Wendy wanting to get it on, and they changed parts of the story for no reason. Very, very disappointing.

Johnny….droool. Oops sorry, distracted by the spit running down my chin
He’s lovely. Wouldn’t you just want to cuddle him on the sofa…or is that just my fantasy. Gorgeous film. Did you see Pirates of the Carribean? Genius!
