Clapotis Begins
My trip to the LYS winter clearance sale led me to discover a great yarn for Clapotis. Actually, I had a tough time deciding between two options. I nearly picked out some Art Yarns Supermerino, which I’ve since seen being used by other Clappers to gorgeous effect. For mine, I settled on Reynolds Odyssey in the Sherbert colorway (#504) — a very soft merino wool that’s plied with 4 different colored strands that change color and form stripes.

The pattern is intriguing. Simple and yet surprising at first. The lure of being able to drop that first stitch got me through the first 200 yards or so in quick, obsessive-like fashion. Now it’s fascination with the colors in the yarn that’s keeping me from getting too bored during the long middle stretch.

So far, I’ve used just shy of 400 yards (about 4 balls) of yarn, and unfortunately I only have 5 total. I can see that I’ll need to order at least one more, and quite probably 2 balls, to get me to the end.
