SP2 Info

I like answering surveys, so I thought I’d go ahead and make a post out of Monica and Lynette’s suggested Secret Pal questions:

What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
wool is my favorite — right now I’ve been especially loving Cascade 220

What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
Baby anything and also bucket hats. I like patterns that are a bit involved, but move quickly. I also have a serious poncho obsession coming on.

What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
This changes often as I learn more. As a new knitter, I’m still making a lot of “firsts.” I generally pick projects that contain some element that I’ve never tried before, and I think that’s fun. Right now I’m experimenting with cables and thinking about intarsia.

What are you knitting right now?
I’m knitting as fast as I can to finish a baby blanket for a co-worker by the end of this week. And I’m poking along cautiously on a cabled sweater for my husband.

What do you think about ponchos? (this is really a curiousity question for us)
I’m thrilled to see that they’re so popular because they look like a lot of fun to make. But I’m concerned that their current fad status means that the poncho craze is doomed to end as abruptly as it began.

Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
I used to be afraid of them, but now I prefer circulars for almost everything.

How did you learn to knit?
I owe a lot to Prof. Hill’s “think method” (Music Man), seriously. I obsessed about wanting to learn for a long time first, and lamented that I didn’t know any knitters who could teach me. I finally just taught myself the basics with the help of several books and then took a beginners class at my LYS on how to knit and assemble a simple sweater. (Since then I’ve discovered several closet knitters among my friends and co-workers — go figure!)

How old is your oldest UFO?
About six months ago I abandoned a furry cat bed (the one from Stich n Bitch) — but I still think I’ll go back and finish it eventually!
