New Projects
I’ve been taking a little break from the First Blush sweater this week to get started on a couple of new things.
I’m trying the Log Cabin method for an afghan made from some of the acrylic yarn that I inherited recently. I attempted to crochet at first, but I wasn’t getting anywhere figuring it out on my own. But I’m really happy with how this is turning out so far, and the knitting goes really quickly.
I probably won’t work on this a lot, since it’s not intended for any particular purpose — but it’s a good project to have around that’s easy to work on while chatting with friends or watching a movie.
And I’ve also gotten started on the back of the Summer in the City tank. Ta-da!
I had a really difficult time casting on the 80 stitches for this one, for some reason. The textured Fame yarn is so stringy and thick/thin that it was hard to accurately count the number of stitches on the needle. But I got it eventually.
I also modified the bottom edge by adding a few rows of seed stitch to keep it from rolling so much (which it still has a tendency to do, I see). The pattern said to just jump right in with stockinette, but I don’t think I would have liked that. The picture in the book doesn’t show the bottom edge (argh), but I would think that it must be curled up quite a bit.
