New Crafty Pursuit
I’m so excited! Jeni and I just ordered doll-making kits from Joy’s Waldorf Dolls. Jeni’s daughter has a doll of this type, and it’s sooo cute.
The Waldorf learning style puts a lot of emphasis on natural homemade goodness, so the dolls are known for being made of natural fibers — cotton fabrics, real wool stuffing, wool yarns for the hair, etc. Sounds good to me, plus I really like the simple embroidered features and all-around cuddliness.
So, we ordered a couple of kits and I found a book that explains more about the history and techniques. If this venture goes well, then I’d like to try to make some dolls from scratch next time. I’m hoping it’ll be a fun experience and that I’ll want to make more dolls as gifts and/or to possibly sell. But, for now, I’m just excited to have a new type of crafty project to try!

Good choise, a waldorf doll is great to make! I made one when I was in shool, a boy with brown hair and blue sneaker jeans. It’s a lot of work, but it was nice and I felt like a mum when he was finished.
Here are some inspiration (not mine), my doll lives with my little brother who was born shortly after I made my doll!
Nice site!
