Hand Knits for Young Moderns

Knitting is in the air in the office! I found out about another new knitter who has been inspiring some others in the office to also want to learn to knit. And so, a new knitting club has emerged! I’m really excited about it. We had our first lunchtime get-together earlier this week, and I think it will be a lot of fun to bring in our projects and learn from each other. We’re lacking a bit in the expertise department, but I’m hoping to lure a couple of the more accomplished workplace knitters to next week’s gathering.

A friend sent me this hilarious link to an online gallery of vintage knitting magazine spreads from the 1960s. Most of the images are from Hand Knits for Young Moderns. The photos are both inspiring… and bewildering…

Here are just a few of my favorites. But trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg. You really have to go and check it out for yourself. You can even write in for a few free patterns (including the “jacket with cape collar” below).
